Jessica's Sea Star Sandy is a buckskin mare born in 2006. Her sire was the buckskin tobiano Tornado and her dam the chestnut Philly Girl. She's had four daughters kept for the herd: Lorna Dune, Sunrise Ocean Tides, Ivana Marie Zustan, and Carolynn's Ripple Effect. Her full sister Landrie's Georgia Peach was also kept for the herd. The late WH Sundance was her niece, the daughter of another full sister. My friend Debbie Elliot-Fisk is her buyback donor.
Jessica's Sandy is a buckskin which means she is a bay with one copy of the cream dilution. She inherited both from her buckskin sire. She often has white hairs mixed into her black mane. These white hairs often happen on buckskins and is called frosting. You can really see it in my photo of her in her winter coat. https://www.thecolorfulchincoteague.com/buckskin.html Her dam is a chestnut so that means she inherited one copy of red and carries it recessively. Her two palomino foals (including Lorna Dune) and one chestnut also shows she carries chestnut. https://www.thecolorfulchincoteague.com/chestnut.html Since Jessica's Sandy is a buckskin she has at least one copy of agouti since agouti creates a bay. She likely has two copies of agouti since she hasn't produced a black foal. https://www.thecolorfulchincoteague.com/bay.html Jessica's Sandy's sire Tornado was a tobiano pinto but she didn't inherit it. She doesn't have any visible white.
