Tobianos often have what is commonly called cat tracks, ink spots, or
paw prints. Cat tracks are frequently called freckles in the
Chincoteague Pony community. They are spots of color on the white part
of tobiano pinto markings. Cat tracks often have a roany look to them.
They can be as minimal as one or two, or a pony can have many. They are a
characteristic of tobiano and are not a separate inheritance. Cat
tracks are more common on homozygous tobianos but heterozygous tobianos
can also have them.
