Occluding spots are when color has been added back to white markings. The occluding spot is suppressing the area of white and not allowing the white to be there. On the face they are often spots of color or holes in white markings. When it's around edge of a marking it can make it appear misshapen or like a piece is missing.
Cat Tracks on tobianos, Belton Spots, and Ermine Spots are types of occluding spots.
