The color that unborn foals might be is a common question and is frequently discussed when anticipating the year's new foals. Color genetics is often a tool to determine the parents of the feral Chincoteague foals.
The below lists the parent colors and the possible foal color outcomes of the cross. There's a section for the base colors and another for the cream dilution. Pinto white markings place themselves over the body color so pinto isn't included with the base colors and cream dilution, but has a separate section. Only tobiano and splashed white pinto is included at this time. The only other white/pinto pattern is W20 and it has only been found in one pony to date. Modifiers like sooty and flaxen are not included as their inheritance is not yet completely understood. Whether it's the sire or the dam that's the particular color does not change the foal color outcome. This website only addresses the colors found in the Chincoteague Pony.
