The ponies pictured here are half Arabians by the stallion Premierre and were part of the feral Assateague herd. Other offspring of Premierre were sold to private homes. Premierre's offspring are considered to be purebred Chincoteagues as they were part of deliberate outcrossing by the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company.
